Come in all shapes, colours and sizes. The glass is first fused flat. When I am happy with the design it goes back into the kiln, balancing on a mould, and it is heated very slowly at first, when the temperature reaches 650˚C it will start to sink or 'slump' into or through a mould to create the shape of the dish. Deep dishes or vases are slumped through 'drop moulds' and have to be watched to make sure that they are stopped when they have reached the right shape.
Dishes can be commissioned to celebrate a particular anniversary with the date engraved on the underside. Depending on their size and the materials used the prices start at £20 for a dish 15cm square and can go up to £475 for a dish 40cm square.
